FAQ's
Are you ready to explore, experience and let your skills impact the greater good of conservation? Here are some Frequently Asked Questions about the internship/postgraduate experience with W.I.L.D. Please don't hesitate to contact us should you like to know more.
Who am I talking to during the application process?
-
We are previous interns who learned a lot during this internship and enjoyed the incredible experience, but also realised how much our work can contribute to nature conservation.
Thus we are here both to recruit interns, but also there for the applicants! We know this is not just an internship, but an experience that you will remember forever 🙂 🦏
-
The last step of the application will involve on-site WILD and SPOTS founders/members. The organisation and questions from you ahead of this step will be handled by us, the past interns.
How do I apply? How long does the internship last?
-
If you are sure you want to apply please send your CV, motivation letter and project portfolio to georg@spots.org.za
-
The internship lasts between 3-6 months.
-
We take in new interns multiple times a year. February, May/June, and August/September. The intakes are flexible to suit both the incoming and outgoing interns.
How does the selection process work?
-
After collecting the application files, we review them and have 1-on-1 talks (if close by in person) to get a feeling of who you are and to give you more of an idea of what this internship entails and what to expect.
-
After that, we will ask you for an indication of when you would like to start and review with WILD members on-site.
-
If selected, we will then invite you to an online interview with 2-3 on-site members and 1 previous intern.
-
WILD is continuously looking for interns and, besides technical skills, selects mainly on the fit/passion of the applicants. They take really good care of you when there (living in South Africa's bush is quite different compared to e.g. city life in Europe :). That is also why they do not have a set number of positions to fill but look for fitting interns and then tailor the project together.
Will I get paid?
-
We will provide you accommodation on the WILD property. However, we cannot afford to give you a salary or pay for your flights or food. We hope you understand that, and that the money we have is being put into the projects you will be working on. WILD is an Non Government Organisation and non-profit. We will not take personal advantage of the work you do, but we all spend our time (and money) to fight for conserving nature.
